Regressed back to jetlag...
Last night was a bit tough due to the mild food poisoning but I think I'm getting better now. I didn't sleep well enough to get rid of the jetlag but hoping that I can stay up today to fix it once in for all.
I woke up at around 6am and decided to go for a run. I ended up running 3.2 miles (3 laps around my neighborhood section) in around 33 minutes, which is 10.5 minutes per mile. Not bad. Why am I doing this? Trying to train for the Golden Gate half-marathon in November. Next, I completed my 51 pushups for the day.
While eating breakfast, I went on this YouTube rabbithole of the US-Iran conflict and learned some things: 1) Iran used to be an ally of the US due to allegedly a puppet government setup by the US and UK, 2) Iranians disliked the US because of the constant intervention/CIA, 3) Lots of major accidents have occurred which have only perpetuated the tensions further, 4) Iran has a ton of oil reserves so in the past the UK struck a deal with them, 5) When conflicts don't involve casualties even with severe structural/infrastructure damage, countries have a higher tendency to walk away from the conflict because neither party loses face (no need to retaliate) -- it seems like losing face or looking strong/weak is recognized as vitally important. Just some random thoughts.
What did I do today:
- Ran 3.2 miles
- Completed 51 pushups
- Learned about US-Iran conflict history
- Visited my cousins in Cypress
